LCS develops for Cimberio SpA an automatic “green field” warehouse to support the constant growth of the company.
Cimberio is a historical company in the panorama of the many companies born from the genius of Italian entrepreneurs. In 1957 the company was founded by Cav. Giacomo Cimberio.
Today, Cav. Uff. Giacomo Cimberio SpA, world leader in the production of brass valves and components for the thermo-hydraulic, air conditioning, gas and water distribution networks sectors and from its headquarters in S. Maurizio d’Opaglio (NO), offers the market over 100,000 pieces daily for a total production of over 22 million pieces.
A production that is inspired by the deepest values handed down from the founder of the company to his sons who now govern the company well beyond national borders.
Quality, innovation, reliability, excellence and sustainability are the prerogatives of the success of the production of valves and components, prerogatives that also reverberate in the increased need for storage and intralogistics.
On this basis, Cimberio has entrusted LCS with the design of a new warehouse to increase storage capacity and at the same time increase automation. The new warehouse would also free up a considerable area of the site, which would be dedicated to increasing production facilities and would update and make more efficient the computerization of factory processes, as well as storage processes.
The analysis of production and distribution flows has led LCS to the design, engineering and construction of a “green field” plant.
The automatic warehouse has a self-supporting structure 14 meters high with 6 aisles served by 6 stacker cranes for metal bodies up to 600 kg, for euro pallets up to 1 ton and for half pallets for a total of almost 14,400 locations.
The storage takes place in double depth for the chests and half pallets, in single depth for the pallets. The plant dedicated to the handling of inbound and outbound goods in the new Cimberio warehouse is unique and hosts 5 laser-guided LGV.
The reception area is equipped with technology suitable for checking the size and weight of the containers of incoming goods to avoid subsequent problems in handling.
The beating heart of the plant is the software that LCS has customised for the Cimberio warehouse. The WMS management system with a wide range of consolidated functions, developed by LCS’s software development department, determines the entire operation of the warehouse and harmonises it with the rest of the company.
The M.E.S. (Manufacturing Execution System) software, which harmonises and coordinates the production management of the S. Maurizio site and the nearby Berzonno site, is also of original LCS development. The M.E.S. developed by LCS operates with Big Data management logic. The machining centres receive the machining programme to be carried out in centralised mode and with the data collected the software is able to provide information in real time to monitor the progress of production orders.
In addition, the analysis and processing of the actual data allow for the rapid and precise determination of the performance of the production system, generating the relevant KPIs.
LCS has been able to build this innovative plant thanks to the special collaboration with the Cimberio team, sharing the company’s founding values: innovation, excellence, sustainability.
Innovation because the new Cimberio warehouse is technologically advanced and prepared to support technological evolution over time. For LCS, excellence means not only extraordinary quality of products and systems in the new plant, but also impeccable project management and related services.
Sustainability for LCS means a plant with low environmental impact and respectful of energy consumption in general. A flagship for LCS that will support Cimberio in its unstoppable growth.
